One edge is cut, on the other one the warps are twisted and then grouped into fringes; then tabby weave on 4 picks, floating warps on 0.5cm and 1.5cm of weft-faced tabby. The short woven strip is possible a warp end form another piece of cloth which have been cut while the warps were used to attach new warps to it, by twisting it together. Grace Crowfoot described such a process in the Beaming section of her paper about spinning and weaving in Sudan (see Bibliography). Irregularly reinforced selvedges: on right side ca. 5 double warps, 1 triple warp and 1 double warp; on the left side 2/1 extended tabby on 2cm width.
