Dating: 13th-14th c. CE

Present location: Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto (Canada). Inventory number ROM 973.24.3511

Dimensions (in cm): 19x22, 16x4, 11x4 + 4 smaller fragments not measured

Weave: Warp-faced tabby (ground).

Decoration: Large stripe, followed by red and blue stripes and plaid effect in blue and red on white ground. A decorative band at edge, with inscription in Kufic (?).

Weft (fibre, twist, color, proportion):
-silk/linen

- red, blue/undyed
-13-14 picks/cm

Other features: Selvedge type C1 (not reinforced). The weft alternates 10 linen threads with 10 silk threads, which creates a kind of slight ribbed effect. Finishing border with patterned band and warps twisted into fringes.
