Tie and dye patterns (circle and a kind of star made from small dots) in cream (undyed) on a dark red ground.

Simple selvedge (Type C1). The fragment is one of the cotton panels that framed the central silk piece (ROM 973.24.2901.9) and also formed backside of the quilt. The other cotton panels (not examined) are pieces inv. ROM 973.24.2909.3 (216x54cm), ROM 973.24.2909.4 (107x22cm), ROM 973.24.2909.5 (214x56cm), ROM 973.24.2909.7 (220x69.5cm), and ROM 973.24.2909.8 (220x12). The pieces were sewn (and quilted) with a blue cotton thread (2zZ and 2zS).
