Silk textile (shroud) SNM 18250

Find spot (context): Meinarti (Sudanese Nubia). Used as inner shroud in the burial found under the floor of Building VIII, Level 5 (settlement). Field registration number: 6-K-3/386.

Dating: 13th c. CE

Present location: Sudan National Museum, Khartoum (Sudan). Inventory number 18250.

Dimensions (in cm): Numerous small dry and brittle fragments. Total number impossible to estimate.

Weave: Warp-faced tabby.

Decoration: Stripes (red, blue, green, orange) on écru ground. Some threads decorated in ikat.
