Textile fragment MAP 2010:75/14

Find spot (context): Hagar el-Beida 2 (a late and post-Meroitic cemetery, 4th Cataract Area). Tumulus 59 (funerary). Date of exploration: January-February 2005.

Dating: Late Meroitic and Post-Meroitic period.

Present location: Museum of Archaeology, Poznan (Poland). Inventory number 2010:75/14.

Dimensions (in cm): 1.8x2.1

Weave: Extended tabby 1/2.

Decoration: None.

Warp (fibre, twist, color, proportion):
- cotton
- S spun
- golden
- 10 warps/cm

Weft (fibre, twist, color, proportion):
- cotton
- S spun
- golden
- 7-8 paired picks/cm

Other features: Animal fur attached to the fabric. The warps are much thicker than wefts.
