Find spot (context): Meinarti (Sudanese Nubia). Fill of Building II-III, Level 5 (settlement; administrative building identified with the Eparch's palace). Field registration number: 6-K-3/231.

Dating: 13th c. CE

Present location: Sudan National Museum, Khartoum (Sudan). Inventory number 18115.

Dimensions (in cm): Numerous fragments: 11 x 5; 3 x 2.5 ; 5 x 4; 4 x 1.5; 7 x 1; 9 x 3; 4 x 3; 3.5 x 2; 4 x 1.5; 3.5 x 2.5; 3 x 1.5; 5 x 1.5; 2.5 x 0.5.

Weave: Weft-faced tabby.

Decoration: Banded in red and blue.

Warp (fibre, twist, color, proportion):
- wool
- S
- cream (undyed)
- 9-10 threads/cm

Weft (fibre, twist, color, proportion):
- wool
- S
- red, blue (thread dye)
- 25 picks/cm

Other features: Reinforced selvedge preserved, Type C2 (Bergman 1975). The selvedge is reinforced by a special weft thread which only occurs in the selvedge section.
